Development

Once a Skills swimmer has mastered the basics of competetive swimming, and through physical development has become stronger, the Development squad provides increased training time.  In addition to 5 1/2 hours pool-time, swimmers are also introduced to an hour of land training which helps with flexibility and core strength development.

Swimmers also start to maintain a log of their training and competition activity, and set targets and goals for their development as an athlete. They are expected to attend 75% of sessions, which equates to 3 of the 4 sessions each week.

Training Times: 7-8.30pm Tuesday, 7-8pm Wednesday, 7-9pm Friday, 5-6pm Sunday, plus land training 4-5pm Sunday

Development swimmers nearing transition into the Performance squad will also be invited to train for an extra hour on a Wednesday night between 8-9pm. In addition we are also trialling morning swims on Tuesdays between 6am and 7:30am meaning that some of our Development swimmers get 8 hours pool-time per week which will help with their transition into the Performance Squad.

The documents required to maintain a Development swimmer’s logbook can be found here.
