Arena League: We are hosting the final round of the Arena League on Saturday (14th) which sees us competing in the ‘B’ Final. This is the middle 6 clubs in the Premier League of 18 clubs in our regional area of the National Swimming League. As we are currently 10th in the League overall we’ll be looking to make our home advantage count against Sherwood Colliery, Chesterfield, Modernians, Lincoln Vulcans & Worksop clubs. We need every point we can get on the night. Warm up starts at 5:30pm so come on down and roar our team on.
Santa Sprints: Entries are now closed for this club-only competition, which is a final chance for many to gain qualifying times for the County Champs. 86 swimmers will compete on December 22nd in some fast & furious action. The competition has been Licensed with the ASA at Level 4, so all times achieved will be uploaded to the ASA Rankings database. Provisional start lists can be found under the Database menu at the top of the website home page. Entry times have been automatically imported from ASA Rankings, where they exist, and the Age on Day for the various age groups will be 22nd March 2014; in line with the County Championships.
Bag Packing & Raffle: Please let the swim desk know which slot you can fill for this annual fundraising activity. We still need volunteers at Co-Op on 21st and Morrisons on 23rd December. Also members yet to receive their raffle tickets can collect them from the swim desk on Sunday.
Snow Frills: We saw some fantastic swimming in Sheffield last weekend with 55 swimmers competing at Ponds Forge; some for the first time in a 50m pool. I’m sure some of you came away with photographs of your swimmers in action, but if you didn’t get the chance, and are maybe looking for a Christmas gift, then use the animated link below to view & buy images online. Search for Snow Frills and the word you’ll need is weather
Qualified Officials: Please email Sarah ASAP to confirm your availability on 15th and 22nd December when we will be running our long distance swims (15th) and Santa Sprints (22nd). For swim times to be valid for qualification to the 2014 County Championships we need at least 19 officials to undertake the numerous duties stipulated in the ASA licensing conditions. Anyone wanting to find out more about becoming an official is invited to have a chat with Iain Hodgson.
Boston Open Meet: We’ll be competing for the Top Visiting Club award in early January when we take 45 swimmers to Grantham Meres to compete in the Boston ASC Open Meet. More importantly we hope to see lots more qualifying swims to compete in the 2014 Lincolnshire ASA County Championships next March. A list of accepted entries can be found here together with an update from the meet organiser here including a request for qualified official to help officiate at the meet if they will be in attendance. PLEASE CHECK YOUR ENTRIES AND LET MATTHEW KNOW ASAP OF ANY ERRORS.
City of Derby Meet: Entries have now been processed for those swimmers with times required to compete at this Level 1 meet in January. We have fared much better this year with only 4 swimmers getting swims rejected. Those rejections can be viewed here and refunds will be made to the club at the meet, and to swimmers shortly after. A full list of competitors can be viewed here
Presentation Night & Disco: Friday 17th January is the date for this years club event. Hosted at Louth Town Hall between 7pm – 11pm this is a highlight of our year as awards are presented for the winners of our numerous categories across the club squads. With free entry and a free hog roast we just ask that everyone bring a salad or a pudding as a contribution to the night. Please have a chat at the swim desk where salad/pudding co-ordination is taking place. You should all have received raffle tickets to help raise much-needed funds, and this year there is a great selection of prizes on offer including a break in the lake district, 32” Colour TV, Whisky, Wine, Luxury Hampers, and Lots More! Contact Miranda or the swim desk with any questions.
